Frozen pitch means another free weekend for the Rebels. New date information here....
Today's match against Godalming Town has been postponed due to a frozen pitch at Wey Court. The Ryman League are insisting that clubs who postpone matches must have the fixture played within 42 days of the original date. Godalming Town are due to play on every Tuesday before 23rd March which is the cut off date for this fixture. Therefore it is likely that Worthing will have to travel to Godalming Town on a Thursday night in February. Watch this space for furthre information... {mospagebreak title=Preview}
Worthing manager Simon Colbran could ring the changes after Tuesday evening's humiliating defeat at the hands of local rivals Burgess Hill Town. The team spent 30 minutes discussing recent events in the changing rooms at Woodside Road after the match the outcome of which was positive according to the Rebels main man. Jamie Brotherton, Matt Simpson, Jamie Groves and Evan Archibald are all pushing for starts with only Ryan Woodford and Karl Akehurst (both injured) not available. Stuart Axten will face a 3 game ban for his sending off on Tuesday, that will commence with a tricky trip to Whitstable Town on Valentines weekend, he will also miss home matches with Leatherhead and Chipstead. Boss Colbran spoke to worthingfc.com about Tuesday's game and said "We were not good enough - simple as that. On behalf of the team I want to apoligise to the supporters, who have been magnificent all season, but words cannot describe their efforts since the turn of the year with all our off the field problems. The best way we can repay them for their terrific support will be by putting in a decent performance (and hopefully gaining 3 vital points) at Godalming Town on Saturday afternoon."
